'TRADITIONAL PONDOK'
Many traditional pondok provide lodges (places to live) for the elderly, whether they are donated or sold, unlike those who live in their parents' homes, the elderly residents can choose to return to their respective homes because they are still married. Among the traditional lodges, some also provide Islamic medical services, rehabilitation of drug addicts in addition to holding classes, lectures, talks and tazkirah for local residents. Pondok residents often receive invitations to conduct religious ceremonies and events including funeral prayers, reading Yasin, nasyid and so on. Among the criteria are as follows:

Study by bertalaqqi
Or in a language that is easier to understand, bertalaqqi is that we study the Qur'an face to face with the teacher. We read and he listens and corrects if there are reading mistakes.

All ages can be students

No study period limit

No test/exam and no passing certificate

Stay/live in pondok
'MODERN PONDOK'
Modern pondok are the same as traditional, the difference is they apply academic subjects such as Science and Mathematics, languages (English, Bahasa Malaysia, Urdu Language) and skills (such as building construction, welding, automotive, electrical, culinary, agriculture and livestock) but still maintain the nature, methods , the role and spirit of pondok.
